Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Breaking Chains ("we", "us") is a private accountability service that helps members guard their homes and devices against pornography and connects them with accountability partners they choose. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the commitments we make about your information.

Information We Collect

What We Do Not Record, And This One Matters

We do not record which person or which device tried to reach a blocked site. Our filter records that a site was blocked and when. It does not record who tried, or from which phone, tablet or laptop.

That means we cannot tell you which member of your household hit a block, and we cannot tell anyone else either. We built it that way deliberately. This is a tool for protecting a home, not for watching the people inside it.

Text Message Program (Accountability Alerts)

Accountability partners receive automated text messages from Breaking Chains when the member they support needs encouragement, plus occasional account notifications.

No Sharing, No Selling

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or sold to, any third party.

We do not sell any personal information, period. We share data only with the service providers required to operate Breaking Chains (such as our messaging carrier), and only to the extent needed to deliver the service.

How We Use Information

Taking Your Information With You, Or Erasing It

Everything you have written and recorded belongs to you, and you do not need to ask us for it.

You can download all of it at any time, in one file, from Settings in the app: your profile, every check-in, every answer, every reaction, your conversations, and your SOS history.

For members under 18, we delete AI companion conversations after 30 days automatically, whether or not you ask. You can still download them before that, and you can delete them sooner yourself. We hold an adult's conversations until he deletes them.

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the same place. That erases your profile, your posts, your videos, your answers, your reactions and your conversations. We show you exactly what will be removed before anything happens, and it cannot be undone afterwards.

One thing we do not delete: if other men have posted in your room, their words stay theirs. We remove everything of yours and leave what belongs to them.

Accountability partners may ask to have their contact details removed at any time by emailing [email protected]. Texting STOP immediately ends all messages to your number.

If You Are Under 18

You can use Breaking Chains from age 13, on your own, without telling a parent. We think a young man who wants help should be able to get it, and we know that asking a parent first is exactly the thing that stops many from ever starting.

Because of that, we hold less of your information than we hold for an adult. Not because we trust you less. Because the safest thing we can do with a young man's private struggle is not to be holding very much of it in the first place.

Until you turn 18:

Everything that actually protects you is open to you right now: the filter, your own AI companion, the daily check-ins, the scripture, and the SOS button. You do not need a parent, a guardian, or a mentor to get any of it.

You are never placed in a room with anyone. Only people you personally invite can join yours.

If you are under 13, we cannot make you an account on your own. We would still love to help protect you, and the law requires a parent or guardian to set it up with you. Show this page to an adult you trust. If there is nobody you can show it to right now, you can text HOME to 741741 any time and a real person will answer.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email [email protected] and we will remove it.

Changes and Contact

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Questions: [email protected].
