What we have built
What exists so far, and what is coming. Published for the same reason we publish our blocklist numbers: a tool that asks for your trust should show its work.
Breaking Chains is not a rebranded filter. Every part of it was built deliberately, mostly at night, by a very small number of people. This page is the honest record of that.
One thing you will not find here. We do not publish the details of how the protection works internally, and we never publish security work, including problems we have already fixed. Writing that down publicly would help exactly the wrong person. If that makes this log less impressive, so be it. The wall matters more than the applause.
And one thing we have left out on purpose. There are no dates on this list. We could not verify them to the standard the rest of this page is held to, and we would rather show you an undated truth than a tidy timeline we invented. If we start dating things, it will be from records, not memory.
What exists today
- The free door. Door Zero: real protection with no card, no trial clock, and no expiry. The commitment that a paid tier will never stand between a man and the help that keeps him free.
- Every screen in the house. Install paths written and tested for iPhone, iPad, Android new and old, Amazon Fire tablets, Chromebook, Windows, Mac, and Xbox, including hardware a decade old.
- Protection that travels. Filtering that follows the device onto any wifi, any hotspot, not just the home network.
- The router guide. Step-by-step setup for every major router brand and ISP gateway, including eero, Google and Nest, Netgear, ASUS, TP-Link, Linksys, and the boxes supplied by Xfinity, Spectrum, AT&T, Verizon and Cox, so most families need no new hardware at all.
- Your circle. Accountability partners you choose, told only what you decide, with the alert types set person by person.
- Wisdom. A guide and counsellor available any hour, built for the moment you cannot reach a person, and explicit that it is a bridge to a human rather than a replacement for one.
- The Foxhole. A private room for your circle, with a daily three-question check-in and video or written posts.
- Your words are yours. You can download everything you have written and recorded, or erase yourself completely, from inside the app. No email, no waiting, no asking.
- A door for younger men. From thirteen, a young man can sign up on his own without telling anyone, and gets every part of the protection. The group rooms stay closed to him until he is eighteen, because they would put him in private contact with adults we have not met.
- Published numbers. Our blocklist count broken open, category by category, with the dead domains removed and the count measured live rather than quoted from marketing.
- Published notifications. Every alert we send, how often it can fire, and the tradeoffs we chose, including the uncomfortable ones.
- The covenant lock. A ninety-day change lock with an outside custodian, so the product cannot be quietly altered, not even by the person who built it.
What is next
- An Android app that protects, not just displays. Today Android is covered by a free, open-source path we point you to. Bringing that inside our own app is the next real piece of work.
- Sign-in for the people in your circle. So an ally can adjust what they hear, or step back, without going through you.
- The Gateway box, preconfigured. Ship it already set up, so a family plugs it in and the whole house is guarded with no settings at all.
- A weekly recap to your circle. Deliberately not built yet. We removed the switch for it rather than leave a promise the product was not keeping.
Why publish this at all
Because most filters are bought, rebranded, and marketed. Ours was not, and the only way to show that is to write down what was actually made. If we ever ship something here that turns out to be less than it sounds, this page is where we will say so.
